Development Ideas for Leviathan Wispers

•  Large Acoustic Horns

This is currently our primary concern– the creation of 3 large, transportable horns that are functional musical instruments as well as sculptural objects in their own right. Current designs include removable wheels/chassis and pyrotechnic attachments.

•  Live performance & installations.

Old school acoustic tech meets digital processing techniques. This mix of technologies and approaches was central to the 1 st LW event at Braziers Park – there is much more to explore and discover. The physicality of the Leviathan Horns is a perfect foil for the ephemeral, non-linear qualities of digital production - we shall continue to find ways of combining the two in a dynamic & earthy way.

The Albion Works Band – the Leviathan Horns leading a scratch band/ensemble of Leviathan reeds and brass; instruments fashioned from the detritus of Albion – hosepipes, traffic cones, fishing rods, copper/plastic plumbing pipe, old boilers, water tanks, kettles, abandoned brass instruments, vessels etc…

•  Leviathan Dubplates.

Gramophones, old stereo equipment & salvaged machinery reconfigured to play dubplates of field recordings and Leviathan horn sounds, and mutant stereos playing dubplates made from stone, wood, metal, earth and found objects. Post-Industrial Akashic Record players spinning the Leviathan sounds of the Underground.

•  Vehicle/processional horns.

A further development of the Leviathan horns – prowling vehicular Leviathans; huge honking beasts filling the air with curious noises at festivals and parades. Tricycle/quadricycle or multi- limbed velocipede bases with lighting and pyrotechnic effects for evening processions.

•  Film/animation/soundtrack work.

We imagine a closely interlinked combination of sound and visuals; sending cameras into horns, caves and the landscape; multi layered sonic geologies; Prehistoric Sonar; a Calling for Lost Giants…

•  Landscape interventions.

Giant caves/horns in the landscape; acoustic play/contemplation environments.
