The Leviathan Horns are a central component of Leviathan Whispers – the ability of the Horn to amplify and project the human voice, its mirror ability to amplify the world and objects around us and the longstanding association of horns with ritual practices and its mythic associations are great inspirations to us. We are also inspired by a range of folk instruments designed to be played out doors; vamping horns, Alpine horns, conches, didgeridoos, Tibetan trumpets, whit horns and the ancient Bronze and Iron age Carnyx. We are also interested in the use of the horn as a receiver – ear trumpets, gramaphone horns, sound locators and horn antenna. We intend to develop the Leviathan Horns as giant acoustic instruments; sculptural objects; processional vehicles and much more.
